CL20 Film Capacitor Application
The CL20 type metallized polyester film capacitor uses polyester film as the dielectric and vacuum evaporation metallized layer as the electrode. It is wrapped with polyester pressure-sensitive tape and potted with epoxy resin. It has the characteristics of strong self-healing and small size, and is suitable for DC or pulsating circuits used in various electronic instruments and electronic equipment.

1. How to judge the positive and negative of the film capacitor?
Film capacitors are not polarized – they can be applied in AC circuits, and certain types (such as polycarbonate or polypropylene capacitors) can be used in high frequency or radio frequency applications.
However, some film capacitors do have “outer foil” markings (stripes or bars). This shows which terminal is electrically connected to the outermost foil layer of the capacitor roll. In noise-sensitive or high-impedance circuits, the outer foil will be preferentially connected to the ground part of the circuit to minimize stray electric field noise. Although not “polarized” in the sense of electrolytic capacitors, these capacitors should be oriented correctly in noise sensitive amplifiers and radio equipment.
