Component Open Circuit

After a capacitor undergoes breakdown, it loses its functionality. A pathway is created between the two pins of the capacitor, nullifying its DC insulation function. This leads to faults in the DC circuit of the circuit, thereby affecting the AC operational state.
Component Leakage
During capacitor leakage, the insulation performance between the two polar plates of the capacitor deteriorates. Leakage resistance exists between the two plates, allowing DC current to flow through the capacitor. This results in a decline in the capacitor’s DC insulation performance and its capacitance. When a coupling capacitor leaks, it causes significant circuit noise. This type of fault is more common in small capacitors and is difficult to detect.
Breakdown After Powering On
When a capacitor breaks down after being subjected to operating voltage, it may not exhibit signs of breakdown after being powered off. It might not display breakdown characteristics when tested with a multimeter. When measured under powered conditions, the DC voltage across the terminals of the capacitor is zero or very low, indicating deteriorated capacitor performance.
